02How the program works
Initial Intake & Eligibility Review
Complete a short intake form online. Our team reviews your information and confirms program eligibility typically within one business day.
Lab Work & Health Assessment
Your physician will order appropriate baseline labs — metabolic panel, thyroid, glucose, lipids — to personalise your treatment plan.
Physician Consultation
A secure virtual consultation with your DOS physician to review labs, discuss history, and design your tailored weight management plan.
Prescription & Program Start
If appropriate, your physician issues a prescription — sent directly to your pharmacy. Your DOS program starts immediately.
Ongoing Monitoring & Follow-Up
Regular virtual check-ins to monitor progress, adjust dosing, review labs, and provide continuous support throughout your program.
03What's included
04Coverage & what's billed
What's covered: physician consultations, requisitioned lab work, in-store vitals review, prescription refills written by your DOS physician, and follow-up visits during the program.
What may be patient-pay: certain weight-loss or specialty medications (depending on private insurance), supplements, and any out-of-program services you elect. Your DOS physician will discuss any patient-pay item with you before prescribing — nothing is added to your file without consent.
05Your Food Basics pharmacist
Each Food Basics location partnered with DOS has at least one pharmacist briefed on the program. They have access to your DOS chart (with your consent) and can answer questions about side effects, interactions, and adjustments without you needing to wait for a physician appointment.
